Need Pictures for Your Articles or Nonfiction Books, try the US government

When you think of obtaining pictures for your articles or nonfiction books, you often think of taking your own pictures. That's fine, but you can't be everywhere.  As a result, I've gotten many of the ones I've used from the government.  There was a time when a lot of my hiking pictures came from Forest Service files.  Some of my gardening pictures came from the Department of Agriculture pictures.  For my Houseboating book the pictures came mostly from the government and private companies.  Surprisingly, there are millions of pictures available from the government.

Here is how to access them.  It takes a little trial and error but with some effort you should be able to find what you want. Remember that some of these sites contain over a million photographs.
